    In The Night Garden characters

Katie likes her new In the Night Garden characters that arrived on Christmas Day.

She likes them more than the TV show which now sometimes fails to hold her attention, particularly if the story (such as it is) doesn't move very quickly. The endless nonsense with the Tombliboos in their house is particularly dull whereas a story involving more of the characters works much better.

Her favourites are Makka Pakka (or "Baba" as Katie calls him), Upsy Daisy ("Uddy") and IgglePiggle ("Sinister" as Urs refers to him).

    Anyone for tea?

Who'd have thought a children's tea set would have been such a great present?

    Well, Urs did.

Katie can happily play with it for about an hour.

Even her new In the Night Garden characters get a cup.

    New half pint t-shirt

Katie bought a new half pint t-shirt as a present for me.

It doesn't fit me but it fits her well.

I'll stick with the full pint.

    Nativity plays

Katie has performed in two nativity plays at her toddler groups.

In one she was the three kings (I'm now hoping she'll get me some myrrh for Christmas) and in the other she was an angel.

    Here are some angelic pics:

    Art for art's sake

Katie's interest in drawing things and sticking things has recently gone up.

    A lot.

She's been doing plenty of it at nursery and Urs has responded by buying some stuff so Katie can do more at home.

    Here's her Halloween ghost:

    And here's her pirate ship:

Our best buy, though, was a plastic table and chair set at an NCT Nearly New sale a while ago. We've put it in a corner in the kitchen so Katie doesn't have to sit at the dining table and be constantly monitored for table damage. And we can do other things in the kitchen while she creates her masterpieces, though often she requires us to sit down with her. You feel a little tug at your hand which, if you don't respond to it, becomes an insistent and strong pull. Resistance is useless.
