November 30 Teething: Friday night funKatie has two top teeth coming through at the moment.
Which led to a tough Friday night/Saturday morning.
She was in such a state at 4am and was beyond being comforted.
In the end Urs brought her into our bed - something we have hardly ever done because we want her to sleep in her own bed.
Katie calmed down a bit but was rather restless - not much sleep for anyone.
We've now bought some more Calpol Night. November 27 I'll get my (big) coatI took Katie to the park last Saturday afternoon.
She walked all the way there.
She inisisted on stepping in as many puddles as she could.
It was cold.
Katie wore a coat.
Here it is:
Then it got dark and it rained a lot.
She didn't mind. Sitting on the swing is fun and that's all that matters.
Eventually I decided the rain was too heavy and we headed home.
Thirty minutes well spent.
November 16 Changing TV tastesWe do try to limit the amount of TV Katie watches.
One treat has been In The Night Garden before we take her to bath and bed. But recently she's been less interested in it than she is in some of the daytime shows on CBeebies. That could all change back again when she unwraps her Christmas present next month but for now her latest favourites are: Big Cook Little Cook (cookery show set in a cafe with a normal size bloke and a tiny bloke as the chefs. Urs is convinced this wasn't what the two actors would have been hoping to end up doing when they first enrolled at drama school) Balamory (I loved the BBCi blurb that briefly appeared about a month ago in the show's description: it's a "fictional" town, you know. Presumably, that was just in case we rush off to Tobermory on the Isle of Mull where it was filmed and where most of the colourful buildings are to be found. We'd be so disappointed that Miss Hoolie and friends aren't actually there, wouldn't we? That said, you can take a tour to see the buildings. Archie's castle isn't there, by the way, it's Fenton Tower in North Berwick) Me Too (kids spending time with Granny Murray the childminder while parents go off to work - very modern). Parents can try to spot the original cities where some of the buildings in Riverseafingal come from eg the Gherkin from London. AnimalsKatie is an expert on animals and the noise they make.
She can quack quack for a duck, woof woof for a dog and even snap snap for a crocodile.
She's now learned to say octopus.
No sound with that one.
Pity. Nappy count reaches 3,500End of week 91 and we're at 3,542 nappies. "Up!"We have a book that has photos of teddy bears doing the actions to the 'If you're happy and you know it' song.
Katie loves doing the actions too - clap your hands, touch your nose, hop around etc.
She particularly loves 'turn around'.
This week things moved on.
No longer can we sit there and watch her turn around.
We have to join in.
Stay seated and she'll come over, grab your hand and very sternly say: "Up!"
Resistance is useless. November 02 Kiss, kissI think I got what could be described as my first proper kiss on the cheek from Katie this weekend.
Aaaah. Changing seasons, changing attitudesIt might be into autumn but it feels like winter right now.
I much prefer the colder seasons whereas Urs prefers the warm weather.
For me the best thing about summer has always been that it's just before autumn.
But now I can see a good reason to prefer the warmer, dryer seasons: it's much easier to take Katie out and about when there isn't snow and ice around (as there was earlier this week) or when it isn't hammering with rain. |
